the foolproof sunscreen combo

2017 has been the year of sunscreen searching for me.  it turns out finding a natural, mineral sunscreen for every day that isn’t white or greasy or thick is quite the challenge.  a few months ago i splurged on the suntegrity 5-in-1 tinted sunscreen in light, which is great, albeit a little thick and a little dark.  the color is now perfect but it still has a thickness to it that i could give a pass on.  i also use the ilia tinted moisturizer in t2, but it only has spf 20 so it’s more of a makeup item for me than a sunscreen.bb sunscreen combo.jpgafter finishing up another tube of lackluster non-tinted sunscreen for every day use, i bought myself the farmacy green screen.  now this rates a 3 on ewg, so not incredible, but i can honestly say it’s the best mineral sunscreen i’ve found to date.  here are the facts: spf 30, 2.4% titanium dioxide, 5.82% zinc oxide, free radical protection, lightweight, no white cast, nongreasy but still dewey.  i think you get the picture, yeah?

so this all brings me to a few mornings ago, when i decided to combine the farmacy green screen with the suntegrity 5-in-1.  and shit. got. real.  the green screen lightens up the density of the suntegrity beautifully, thinning out the product and making the color even more spot-on for my skintone.  they mix together super well, melting into the skin and offering a lightweight layer with slight skin perfecting properties, but nothing heavy or foundation-like in the least.  plus, since they are both mineral sunscreens, i don’t feel weird or like i’m taking away any of the sun protection, and my skin feels and looks healthy and glowing.bb sunscreen combo2.JPGbb sunscreen combo3.JPGthese horrible awkward selfies (also, welcome to my apartment!) were taken in sunlight, with absolutely no filters or editing of any kind.  that’s my real, puffy morning face.  you can see that the coverage is minimal, but my skin looks pretty even-toned and with a hint of natural light to it.  success!  i apply a number of ways: with fingers, with a beauty blender, or with a buffing brush.  just depends on my mood!

so that’s that.  sunscreen and skin made easy.  do you have a go-to sunscreen to share?
